About this product:

RCAF
The Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) was born on the 1st April 1924. Early tasks focused on civil air operations including forestry patrols, surveying and anti-smuggling. When the call to arms came in September 1939, Canada’s youth dutifully joined the cause. By 1944, the RCAF reached its peak strength of 215,000 men and women – making it the fourth largest air force in the world. Air force personnel served proudly under the RCAF Roundel in both peace and war for forty-four years. While the RCAF itself is no longer in existence, a version of it’s roundel is still proudly displayed on today’s military aircraft.

RCAF Flyers 1948
In 1948 Canada found it impossible to put together an Olympic Hockey Team due to tightened amateur eligibility rules. Hockey enthusiast Sandy Watson turned to the RCAF for skilled players. A team of military men were gathered and the RCAF Flyers were born. With the iconic RCAF roundel emblazoned on their jerseys the new team entered as the underdogs in the eight game Olympic tournament. The RCAF Flyers had zero loses and five shut outs during the series. Against all odds they returned home as Gold Medal Winners and Canada’s "Miracle Men".

A portion of the proceeds from all sales goes to support the Air Force Association of Canada.
